Biographical/Historical Note:
Catholic Interracial Council of Chicago was established in 1948. CIC promoted racial justice within the Archdiocese of Chicago (Ill.), the Roman Catholic Church, and in society in general. CIC focused on specific instances of racial discrimination in Chicago churches, schools, housing, hospitals, and other agencies and in employment. Council officers included Lloyd Davis, John A. McDermott, and R. Sargent Shriver.

Correspondence, memoranda, reports, financial and fund raising records concerning the Catholic Interracial Council of Chicago's efforts to promote racial justice.
