The Firman House was founded circa 1872 as a Congregational Church mission and Sunday school and incorporated in 1912 as Firman House. It was moved into the Chicago Housing Authority’s Robert Taylor Homes in the mid-1960s. It specialized in community improvement and organization programs and working with the family in such areas as homemaking and referral services.
